Trinity "O" Club To Host Annual Blini Luncheon - February 26, 2012
Trinity "O" Club To Host Annual Blini Luncheon - February 26, 2012
Blini, blintz, blinchiki, blins.  There are many ways to say it, but only one day to enjoy them at Holy Trinity "O" Club's annual Blini Luncheon.

The event will be held on Cheesefare Sunday, February 26, 2012, following Divine Liturgy at Holy Trinity Orthodox Cathedral, located at 1121 N. Leavitt Street in Chicago, Illinois.

The Blini Luncheon gives Holy Trinity Cathedral visitors and parishioners a chance to visit and dine on scrumptious Slavic fare.  The cheese-filled crepes are served with fresh fruit, cream puffs, coffee, tea and juice.  The all-inclusive meal is $10 for adults and $5 for children.
Tickets may be purchased the day of the event.

It is tradition in the Holy Orthodox faith to fast from meat and dairy products during Great Lent, which this year begins on Monday, February 27th.  The Blini Luncheon is an opportunity for the parish to dine together on dairy items for the last time until the Feast of Feasts, Pascha (Easter), which falls on April 15th this year on the Orthodox calendar.  Orthodox Christians use this time during Great Lent to prepare themselves, spiritually and bodily, for the joyous Pascha of the Lord.   Click here to read more about Great Lent and Pascha.

We invite our neighbors and visitors to the Cathedral to join us for this luncheon.  For directions to Holy Trinity Cathedral, visit the Cathedral web site at www.holytrinitycathedral.net/directions.html.  Any questions may be directed to Sue Miller, Trinity "O" Club's secretary, at isaa24@aol.com.  To download and print a flyer for this event, click here.  Come and join us!

The Trinity "O" Club was originally formed in 1946 when a group of young adults attended a dinner at the Cathedral in honor of servicemen returning from World War II and saw a need for a social club to attract young adults to return to the Cathedral.  As a club belonging to the Midwest District of the Fellowship of Orthodox Christians in America, the Trinity "O" Club sponsors functions to support the Cathedral and various non-profit organizations.  The Trinity "O" Club is currently seeking new members to aide us in our Christian work.

Holy Trinity Orthodox Cathedral is the oldest Orthodox parish in Chicagoland and the last remaining house of worship in Illinois designed by architect, Louis H Sullivan.  It is a spiritual home to those born into the Orthodox faith, as well as those who have come to embrace Orthodoxy via their spiritual journey.  Services are held in the English language.  All are welcome to worship with us.  To learn more about the Cathedral, visit www.holytrinitycathedral.net.
