Happy New Year to All!
January 16, 2017

I want to congratulate you on a wonderful Yolka presentation. It was more difficult to put together this year due to the holy days being Sundays but you came through and made us proud!

I also want to congratulate you for the wonderful weekly Advent reflections. Our" Christmas Stocking" collection totaled $901 for the Orthodox Christian Mission Center. I also think you appreciated learning about our own past parishioner Archimandrite Juvenal Repass and his missionary plans for Guatemala.

Please mark your calendars for upcoming events:

SATURDAY, APRIL 8--OUR ANNUAL LENTEN RETREAT. This year we will be preparing second and third graders to receive their First Holy Confession. There will be an additional two preparation classes prior to the retreat and Father will hear confessions just prior to Vigil at the end of the retreat. If your child is older and has not prepared for this in the past please contact me as soon as possible.

The last day of classes is SUNDAY, MAY 28. This is just in time for us to celebrate OUR 125TH ANNIVERSARY ON SUNDAY, JUNE 11.  We encourage you to participate in the events and make lasting memories for your little ones.

In Christ,
Tina Richardson

Nativity Fast Project-Dec. 17
December 12, 2016

Glory to Jesus Christ!

As we prepare for Christmas let us not forget to also prepare spiritually in prayer and service to each other.

The children have worked hard to prepare Advent reflections to pass out to parishioners every week--we have two more to go!

Also we have been collecting money for OCMC for Archimandrite Juvenal Repass' s trip to Guatamala.

We are also going to meet this Saturday, December 17 at 9:00am in the parish hall and visit two of our parishioners.  We will drive in two cars.  Tina Richardson and Alla Garklavs can drive your child if you would like to wait and help with the cookie walk or you may drive as well. We will have Peanut Butter and Jelly sandwhiches for lunch and finish our advent project. We will end with Confessions at Church.

P.S. SAVE THE DATE: JANUARY 8 for the annual YOLKA (change from original calendar)

Church School Activities
October 29, 2016

Dear Church School families,

Tomorrow we will be celebrating the Feast of St. John of Chicago, our own pastor and builder of our church!  We are excited to have guests to celebrate with us from Tikhvin in Russia.  We will have a special luncheon so we will not have Church School.  Don't miss this special day!

We will resume Church School on Sunday, November 6 with a joint class on OCMC, the Orthodox Christian Mission Center.  We will begin discussion on their purpose and about a special missionary that came to our parish on September 25th, Archimandrite Juvenal Repass.  Please make sure to ask the children about his story and Orthodox beginnings right here at Holy Trinity Orthodox Cathedral.

We will then spend our Nativity Fast project making Nativity Fast Handouts for the parish and collecting money for the OCMC in his name.

We hope that you all participate in tomorrow's celebration and look forward to the coming Nativity Fast season.

In Christ,

Tina Richardson

Church School Registration
August 27, 2016
Glory be to Jesus Christ! Glory Forever!
It is already that time of year! Where did the Summer go?
A special thanks to all who helped with the Dormition Fast project and made lunches for West Suburban PADS. As the school year ends with the Falling Asleep of the Theotokos (August 15), the new school year starts with the Nativity of the Theotokos (September 8). Mark your calendars with the beginning of the new church school year on Sunday, September 11. We will have a special blessing to begin the new year during Divine Liturgy and will have registration and orientation after coffee hour in our classrooms.
We have lots of activities planned and will again divide into three classrooms. Please see the links here for the Church School Calendar, the Church School Overview, and registration form. You are welcome to submit this electronically. We will have extra copies ready if you would rather fill it on paper.
We're looking forward to a great year!

Dormition Fast Project
Helping the Hungry

The children are requesting the parish’s help to contribute to West Suburban PADS summer lunch program. PADS does not provide housing in the summer months but does have community outreach to needy families (not always homeless) who need help in the summer.  Each Saturday a different community group or church/synagogue, etc. provides lunch in their facility. They are in need of extra paper bag lunches to give out at these events. They only ask...

Each lunch should be in its own brown bag and consist of a meat/cheese sandwich, chips, cola drink, fruit and a dessert.  If you want to add a note of encouragement, please feel free to do so.

We would like to provide 20 such paper bag lunches to the Saturday, August 13 group that would be within our Dormition Fast. We are asking if 15 individuals/families would sign-up to bring the materials for the children to bag on the evening of Friday, August 12.

We will meet in the fellowship area to prepare the bag lunches. Families can bring the materials and leave them in the refrigerator the week before starting on August 6.

Even if families are out-of-town on that weekend we can all contribute with time, food, drink and paper/bag products. Please consider outreach to our brothers and sisters in need as a usual Orthodox Christian action of our beliefs but especially during our fasting periods.

May 7, 2016
Christ is Risen! Indeed He is Risen!
Wishing all of our parish mom's a Happy Mother's Day! tomorrow.
We will have the annual Pascha Egg Hunt right after Liturgy and skip church school until next week.

Enjoy the little break and the Joyous Feast.
