St. Tabitha's Circle - 08/06/16

On August 6, 2016, parishioners of Holy Trinity Cathedral gathered together in fellowship to knit and learn more about a new Chicago-area ministry.

Laura J. K. Paulus, Executive Director & Housemother at Martha and Mary Maternity House explained how the House offers practical, emotional and spiritual support for expectant mothers who find themselves alone or without a good, safe home through pregnancy and childbirth.

According to their website, the House is, "the fulfillment of a long-held dream of the members of Orthodox Christians for Life - Chicago, and are a ministry of the Greek Orthodox Metropolis of Chicago."  The Pan-Orthodox Board of Directors operates under the guidance of His Grace Bishop Demetrios of Mokissos, Chancellor of the Greek Orthodox Metropolis of Chicago, with the support of hierarchs across all Orthodox Jurisdictions.

They took occupancy of the house on November 1, 2015, in the northwest suburbs of Chicago.  After completing final preparations, their first "daughter" moved into the House on April 1, 2016".

At the gathering, several baby hats and a few blankets were given to Ms. Paulus to take back to the Martha and Mary Maternity Home.  If you would like to learn more about Martha and Mary Maternity Home, please visit http://www.marthamarychicago.org/
